Fun in the sun at BYC!

 This course is designed to focus on sailing and boat handling, fundamentals, seamanship, sportsmanship and weather safety. They will be expected to know and perform all tasks learned in the beginner program. Also on completion they will learn and know all points of sail. They will spend each day with time on the water with the instructor.


Goals

  • Getting more comfortable under sail
  • Rig and de-rig a boat solo
  • Know all parts of the boat
  • Trimming a sail properly
  • Being able to capsize and recover safely
  • Water safety
  • Understanding the rules of sailing, safety, right of way and fair sailing
  • Knowing how to tie all knots
  • FUN! FUN! FUN!

Intermediate Sailors: Ages 8 and up

What to Bring

All sailors in all programs are required to have with them as follows:

  • Life Jacket with a whistle
  • Sandals with a heel strap
  • Towel
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat & Sunglasses
  • Lunch for full day program, snack for half day program
